That's why we send video messages vs long emails that you can watch at your leisure to avoid unnecessary meetings. When you are ready for some facetime, our video calls are summarized and transcribed (as requested) so you can digest what we discussed on your own time.
We use an encrypted portal for all bookkeeping questions and requests so you never are digging through your emails for where our conversation left off. We also send weekly reminders via email and text so you’ll never fall behind.

MODERN BOOKKEEPING
While technology has made it easier to run businesses on the front end, the back end of a modern business can be complicated to unravel if you don't know what you are doing.
We work with platforms like, Square, Stripe, PayPal, Venmo, HoneyBook, Toast, etc all the time and know how to navigate their back ends so you report accurate numbers to the IRS.
We also support clients with their industry specific billing softwares so they can continue to use tools that make running their business easier.
CYBER SECURITY
We take the necessary precautions with our client's data and invest in tools to keep it safe. Here are some of the steps we take to protect both our businesses:

We use Two-factor authentication (2FA) throughout our tech stack.
Our client portal is SOC 2-compliant and the data shared is fully encrypted at rest and in transit.

Every new monthly client enrollment triggers a donation event. We also partner with non-profits to broaden the reach of our efforts to give back. Some causes that are dear to our hearts are financial literacy and mental health advocacy 🕊️

Meet Our Founder Barb
After 10 years of working in accounting for publicly traded ad agencies & global legal + financial services firms in NYC I was burnt out 'AF' 😩and ready to take my love of business and strength for working with numbers to the next chapter of my career.
My passion for wellness businesses came from the support I received as I recovered from the burnout I experienced from my corporate days. Wellness providers are a critical part of our communities and I want to amplify their impact by making sure they stay in business so they can serve for years to come.❤️
My vision for Elmwood is to support businesses that bring wellness into their communities. Whether through nutrition, grooming, travel, yoga, or therapy; if you improve the quality of life of your clients, we want to help.

How it works
Hand over the books and get financial clarity
During onboarding, we set up access to your accounting file and business accounts so we can service your business with minimal input from you throughout the month.
Once your file is set up or cleaned up, we move to the maintenance phase of our services.
Here is what you can expect every month
- All business transactions are recorded and categorized.
- All business bank and credit accounts are reconciled.
- Transaction questions that need client input are listed in the portal for easy response.
- Books are revised with the feedback from the client.
- Financial reports are created and published with a recap email of financial highlights.
- Books are closed for the month to prevent incorrect entries.
